The Corporate Headquarter Office of Trusted American Insurance Agency offers a variety of internship opportunities to obtain mentored business experience. Interns have the option of selecting from multiple departments to gain a broad understanding of office professions. Project Management

Overview:
Project Management works closely with managers of each department to oversee various projects. Daily tasks may include preparing or filing documents related to the project, and collecting and collating data to track performance and efficiency.

Skills Required:
Must be a student majoring in Project Management with skills in critical thinking, communication, leadership, and task management. 

Skills Gained:
You will improve your skills in leadership, communication, management, organization, analysis, decision making, and time management.

Digital Marketing

Overview:
The Marketing Department oversees all print and digital marketing for multiple brands under the company. Daily tasks may include creating blogs and other digital content, creating social media campaigns, creating flyers and other branded print media, website user testing, and analyzing data.

Skills Required:
You must be a student majoring in marketing, communications, public relations, or a similar field of study, and must have excellent writing and communication skills. 

Skills Gained:
You will learn how to create a variety of digital content for lead generation or social media campaigns, how to design eye-catching graphics, a basic understanding of effective copywriting, how to write press releases, and whatever else you’re willing to learn.

Commissions & Accounting

Overview:
The Accounting & Commissions Department process all commissions from receipt from carrier to payment to agents. This includes obtaining statements, recording them in our system, and reconciling them to the bank transactions. It also includes researching commission inquiries from agents and preparing responses, making inquiries to carriers, reconciling 1099 data, preparing monthly reports of agent payments, and preparing emails.

Skills Required:
You must have a basic knowledge of Excel (copy/paste, very basic formulas, sorting), Basic knowledge of Word, Basic knowledge of Outlook (creating email drafts), basic knowledge of navigating through File Explorer, and great attention to detail. 

Skills Gained:
You will learn data entry of detailed data, how to  access carrier portals, more advanced Excel skills, how to create and use email templates, how to reconcile commission data, and how to review previously prepared documents against checklists.

Web Development

The Web Development Department oversees all server and website functions from OS to CSS. This includes security, storage, design, and implementation. Daily tasks may include, designing plugins, debugging, updating/patching code, researching and development of new/better features, providing tech support, and data analysis to improve efficiency.
Skills Required:
You must have some coding experience (preferably with HTML5 and PHP), knowledge of WordPress, experience with an FTP client, and a desire to improve web development skills.
Skills Gained:
You will learn CMS Plugin development, client-server communication, cyber-security, Linux command line, Website development best practices, and SEO Standards.

Agent Contracting

Overview:
The Contracting Department is the corporate headquarter support team that maintains the nation-wide licensed agents’ contracts. It maintains information to address inquiries regarding contracts, state licensing, and corporate carrier appointments. The department also assists agents in attaining appoints with insurance carriers, so agents are prepared to conduct insurance product sales. Additionally, we keep, maintain, and update agent records on file such as licenses, certification, and E&O insurance.
Skills Required:
Proficient in Microsoft Office, have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Skills Gained:
You will learn a high level of attention to detail and talent for accuracy and precision, time management skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, effective organization, problem solving, and how to analyze information and documents related to contract standards and state regulations.
Job Value:

Enrollment

The Enrollment Department is responsible for assisting customers in getting enrolled in various insurance plans. Daily tasks may include assessing applications, handling documentation, collecting information, entering data, verifying data, utilization of multiple database platforms, and providing customer service.
Skills Required:
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office, have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
Skills Gained:
You will learn how to utilize various enrollment technology and software, data entry, general case management skills, how to audit data, how to deliver excellent customer service, and how insurance works.

Administrative Support

Overview:

Administrative staff are responsible for providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the office. Admin staff support employees and managers through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. These tasks may include answering phones, taking memos, and maintaining files. Administrative assistants may also be in charge of sending and receiving correspondence, as well as greeting clients and customers.

Skills Required:

The Human Resources Department oversees the direction and workflow of onboarding functions, ensuring practices comply with applicable company policies. Daily tasks may include administrative-related tasks, updating employee attendance records, filing HR documents accordingly, and providing suitable recommendations to improve HR policies.
Skills Required:
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office and have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication, time management skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work. It is also expected you have the highest discipline level of confidentiality.

Insurance Agent

Insurance agents are responsible for managing books of business, enrollment support, creating quotes for customers, ordering supplies, understanding insurance processes, and customer service. Daily tasks may include using quoting software, speaking with clients and prospects, responding to emails, and managing and ordering materials for customers.
Skills Required:
You must be proficient in Microsoft Office, quick to adapt to new technology, have excellent communication skills, and a willingness to learn.
Skills Gained:
You will learn the soft skills all insurance agents must master: a positive attitude, effective communication, excellent customer service, quick learning, patience, and persistence. You will also learn the fundamentals of insurance and insurance product knowledge.
